As part of our continued effort to improve online banking safety, First United Bank is excited to introduce Trusteer Rapport a new security solution to protect our customers free of charge.

Introduction to Trusteer Rapport
WHY WE RECOMMEND TRUSTEER:
We want to protect YOU, YOUR PC, and YOUR PERSONAL and FINANCIAL INFORMATION. Criminals are after your money and identity. Inevitably, your online bank account has access to both. If criminals manage to access your online bank account, they can not only access your private information but also transfer money out of your account. With all the online criminals out there pharming, phishing, swishing, key logging, and so on … we all need to PROTECT OUR INFORMATION! Although banks take various measures to protect you against this threat, one of the biggest risks is actually the computer used to bank with. That is why First United Bank is offering TRUSTEER RAPPORT SOFTWARE as a FREE DOWNLOAD for our online banking customers. TRUSTEER RAPPORT is lightweight security software designed to protect personally identifiable information such as online credentials from theft by malware and via phishing attacks.

WHAT'S AT STAKE?
The top two fraud threats identified by the FDIC are malware and phishing attacks. Corporate bank accounts are especially sensitive targets and are increasingly being attacked by fraudsters. Criminals can transfer money out of corporate accounts if they manage to access it, which is not difficult to do today. Inevitably, managers of corporate accounts online have the responsibility of keeping it fraud free, a task that increases in difficulty as fraudsters get more sophisticated. One of the biggest risks is actually the computer used to bank with. Here are two sophisticated attacks that criminals use to access online accounts using your computer:

Malicious software (or malware) - automatically and silently downloaded onto the computer when browsing the Internet, malware silently captures login information and transfers it to criminals as log-in is performed. It is also capable of silently changing the transactions executed as directed by criminals.
Phishing - criminals build fake websites that look very similar to your bank's website. They do this to lure you into visiting these fake websites and submitting your online banking log-in information. This data is later used to access your online bank account.

MAXIMIZE YOUR SECURITY ONLINE

Anti-virus, firewalls and other security software are important but unfortunately not enough. Various studies and recent incidents show that these tools are not always effective in preventing criminals from taking money from your account. As criminals become more sophisticated, your bank strongly recommends additional layers of protection on your computer to enable safe online banking.

Enjoy extra peace of mind with free anti-virus and Rapport security software.
Trusteer Rapport adds valuable security when you log on to First United Bank's First Net Online Banking. It checks that you are using the real FirstNet website and not a fake. It locks down the link between you and the bank so that fraudsters can't listen in. Finally, it blocks all known viruses that target online banking.
Rapport doesn't replace your personal FirstNet Online Banking security details or other protection such as anti-virus software. It works with them to add extra security. It only takes a few minutes to install the software and there is no need to restart your computer.
Watch Rapport video.

Trusteer Rapport Video demonstration of Rapport Installation

Trusteer Rapport takes a unique approach that adds real value on top of your current security software. When you connect to your bank online, Rapport does three main things in the background to make it extremely difficult for criminals to target you: Rapport verifies that you are really connected to the bank's genuine website as opposed to a fake website created by criminals. Although this sounds trivial, it's not obvious that you reach a genuine website when you type your bank's address into your web browser.

Once verification is complete, Rapport locks down communication between your computer and the bank's website. This prevents criminals from hijacking your online connection with the bank.

Rapport protects your computer and internet connection by creating a tunnel for safe communication with your bank, preventing criminals from using malware to steal your log-in data and tamper with transactions.

HOW TO DOWNLOAD
Rapport is very easy to download and use. Follow these simple instructions.

Log into your First Net Online Banking Account using your log in ID and Password.
Click the "Download Rapport Now" button to install it on your computer. This only takes a couple of minutes.
Click "next", "yes" and "continue" when prompted, until installation is complete. There's no need to restart your computer once the process is complete.
Once installed, a small Rapport icon will appear next to your browser's address bar. This icon is green when you are on a website protected by Rapport, and grey when you are on a website that is not protected by Rapport. The icon is for your information only and does not require any action on your part.

    Trusteer protection

Along with our recently introduced transaction confirmation service, Rapport makes you even more secure when you are managing your accounts online.
