Apply early to meet state and school deadlines.
 
Complete your tax return before filling out your FAFSA.
 
Save time and file your FAFSA ELECTRONICALLY online!
 
Ask the school you are planning to attend if you need any additional forms.
 
Remember to keep copies of all applications, disclosures, receipts, and other documents dealing with financial aid applications.
 
 
ITEMS NEEDED TO APPLY FOR FINANCIAL AID
 
Records of income earned in the year prior to when you will start school.
 
Records of your parent's income earned for the year prior to when you will start school (if you are a dependent).
 
Social Security Number.
 
Driver's License Number.
 
W-2 forms and other records of money earned (for the year prior to when you will start school).
 
Federal Income Tax Return for yourself and your spouse if applicable (for the year prior to when you will start school).
 
Your untaxed income records (for the year prior to when you will start school).
   
  • Social Security
  • Temporary Assistance to Needy Families
  • Welfare
  • Veterans benefits records
 
Current Bank Statements.
 
Current business and investment mortgage information, business and farm records, stock, bond, and other investment records.
 
Your alien registration or permanent residence card (if you are not a U.S. Citizen).
     
Keep these records as you may need them again and do not mail these records with your signature page.
