Ray Bain honored at the 40th Annual Bankers Agricultural Credit Conference

Ray Bain Ray Bain, President and CEO of First United Bank, was honored with the Distinguished Banking Service Award at the Bankers Agricultural Credit Conference (BACC) on November 9 at Texas Tech University. This prestigious award recognizes members of the banking industry who have made significant contributions to society and whose accomplishments and careers have brought distinctive credit to the financial profession. Award recipients are selected by members of the board of directors for the BACC.

Throughout his career Mr. Bain has served on the BACC board of directors and was conference president in 1993. He is a member of the Texas Bankers Association and is a past member of the legislative committee.

Congratulations Mr. Bain! We are so proud of you and all you do for the communities we serve. Our sincerest thanks for all you do for us.

Scott Fagin Appointed to the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors

Congratulations to Scott Fagin for being appointed to the 2013 board of directors for the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce. Scott will serve along with 39 other business leaders from the Lubbock community. Scott has served on the steering committee for the both the Leadership Lubbock program as well as the Community Prayer Lunch. Thank you for all the good work you do in the Lubbock community.

March of Dimes Signature Chefs Auction

First United Bank is proud to be the premier sponsor for the Signature Chefs Auction benefitting the March of Dimes. The 2012 auction, held on October 26, raised more than $200,000, increasing revenue by 25% from 2011 and setting a new fundraising record for the Lubbock event. The live auction yielded 101% of the total retail value of all the packages combined. We sincerely thank Keith Owens, Jennifer Bledsoe, Patricia Cisneros, Katie Critchfield, Matt Martinez, Michelle Dempsey, Ryan Morrow, Jodi Smith and Kimberly Staudt for working hard to ensure check-in and the live auction were a success.

We would like to congratulate the Lubbock, Wichita Falls, Amarillo and Canyon markets for their participation in the 2012 United Way Campaign. The contributions made by First United Bank employees in each of these markets exceeded our United Way Campaign goals for 2012. Amarillo and Canyon raised approximately $35,000 increasing their campaign contribution by 66% over 2011 contributions. First United Bank has proudly supported the United Way for more than 15 years. Thousands of lives will be impacted as a result of the generosity of First United Bank employees.

Special thanks to Scott Bentley for representing the Bank as co-chairman for the 2012 United Way campaign in Canyon and Amarillo.

Quinn was recognized at the United Way 2012 Campaign Kickoff Luncheon in September for his contributions to the success of the 2011 campaign. Gaines County Ag & Oil Appreciation Day
Gaines County Ag & Oil Appreciation Day Our Seminole and Seagraves banking centers partnered together to serve as the premier sponsor for the 2012 Gaines County Ag and Oil Appreciation Day on September 20. Each year the Seminole Chamber of Commerce hosts this annual event to salute Gaines County for being the nation's top producer in the cotton, peanut and oil industries. More than 400 Gaines County residents attend Ag and Oil Appreciation Day each year. In addition to providing decorations for the event luncheon, our Seminole banking center had the honor of displaying the first bale of cotton harvested in Gaines County for the 2012 season. Special thanks to Cindy Elliott, Rita Grelle, Toni Henson, Gary Parker and Kacee Elliott for all their hard work.

Teacher Appreciation CookoutsIn August, our Lamesa, Seminole, Seagraves and Dimmitt banking centers hosted teacher appreciation cookouts for more than 1,000 educators across west Texas.
